With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we’ve seen a surge in orders with some unexpected choices in fragrances. Instead of our usual bestsellers like Coconut Lime, Champagne & Strawberries and Nag Champa, we’ve observed a shift towards new fragrances like Lemongrass and Persian Lime, Thai Lime and Mango, and Watermelon Lemonade. This Mother’s Day, traditional favorites are making a comeback. Wild Frangipani, a beautiful replica of the flowering plant, holds the 3rd place in our most ordered list. It’s a subtle, clean fragrance that will fill your home with a summery scent all year round. In second place is the timeless French Lavender, a fragrance that combines Lavender with hints of rosemary, vanilla, and patchouli. It’s like being in the middle of a lavender field, offering a calm and relaxed vibe perfect for Mother’s Day. Our top fragrance this Mother’s Day is Gardenia. This was one of my first floral fragrances when I started my candle making journey. This sweet, intense floral body genuinely captures the natural aroma of this beautiful flower. This year, we’ve noticed adult children placing more orders online, which may explain the shift in fragrance choices. Unlike last year, when young boys chose the humorously named Monkey Farts fragrance, this year’s choices seem to be more mature. We’re excited to see what Mother’s Day next year will bring, and hoping for a return to normalcy. Fingers crossed!

Everything Happens for a Reason
The saying everything happens for a reason. Seems very inappropriate and appropriate at the same time in the world at the moment.
I have done a lot of thinking as to why this has happened and what positives I can take from this pandemic. How we can change and adapt as humans, as a family and myself.
The pandemic has forced everyone to take a step back and look at how they spend their time, what is important and is this how you want to spend the rest of your life? We need to change and focus on what is really important to us and the people around us, as the world evolves into this new normal.
This is real. This is a massive change that is happening around the world and how we choose to deal with it will decide if we make this a better place to be and better people / person for it. It has forced us to take a step back and have ‘down time’ at home with our families. We as a family have taken this down time to spend doing things together. We have found that this time together has been great. We are spending time doing things that we always ‘wanted to do’ but ‘never had time for’ playing board games together and the kids helping cook dinner, family fire nights where the kids get to cook damper and toast marshmallows as if we were camping. I guess kids being able to be kids.
I have also found my love for rock fishing again and realised that both my boys love it too, which is fantastic. Now we have a new sport that we can do together, hangout and as and added bonus I get to teach the boys a new skill. I guess you could say we have all stopped to ‘smell the roses’ so to speak. As much as my kids drive me crazy with their bickering and fighting it is great to see them work together and get along and still enjoy each others company (as long as they are busy doing something they love). As much as this is a very scary and uncertain time and the world has been up turned upside down, I am happy to say that I feel it has bought our family closer together and we have gained a better understanding of each other, which we will all take with us moving forward. I guess you could say it has been a bonding experience for our family.
So now as we go into the next chapter of history I hope that other people / families have experienced the same positive outcomes that we have had as a family. Hopefully we can make this a life changing experience to improve our lives as we move forward in these uncertain times.

Fresh Coffee
Freshly brewed coffee is the BEST smell to wake up too. I LOVE IT !!
This fragrance ‘fresh coffee’ is simply put, the best, most realistic coffee fragrance I have ever come across! Yes its a bold statement. But I believe it to be true. The only way it could be better is to be brewing the coffee yourself.
This candle fragrance is for all you coffee lovers. It will bring back memories in ways you never thought possible. It reminds me of when I used to work in a coffee shop (many years ago now) just as coffee was becoming a ‘thing’. I remember the smell of burnt coffee as the new baristas were learning the coffee machine and this is what the fragrance smells like when I am pouring the candles. BUT as the candle sets the fragrance mellows into an amazing fragrance of freshly brewed coffee that will have any coffee lover drooling.
When our ‘fresh coffee’ candles are lit they give off the amazing aroma of freshly brewed coffee that will permeate throughout your room space and/or home. I have been told by customers that even unlit the candles fill the room with the amazing aroma. So every morning as they struggle to wake up they are greeted in the kitchen with an amazing scent of freshly brewed coffee, truly the best way to start your day (except without the caffeine hit)
I would think at this time, in the middle of a pandemic that this would be a must have for every coffee addicts home. We are ALL missing our daily ritual where we would merged to our local coffee shop and that unmistakable fragrance as we entered the cafe. The reminder of the first sip from our double shot flat white to go, these are ALL the things that have been missing and we have been craving over the last few weeks.

Life as we knew it
As we awaken each morning hoping that this new reality is just a dream. We turn on the TV with our morning cuppa to be bombarded with the news of grief stricken countries and their ever mounting death toll and the growing number of people testing positive to Covid-19. It is hard to see how the world will ever be the same again. The choices that people have made and the consequence of these decisions. Cruise ships being ordered to leave our shore is heart breaking. I can only imagine the stress and uncertainty that these people must be feeling I don’t think I even have the words to describe the heartbreak. I understand why they have been turned away from our shores. But they are humans and yes they maybe they should have cancelled their holiday and yes maybe they should have stayed home instead. But they are people and they have made one bad decision that has now changed their lives and their family’s lives forever. I hope and pray every day that a vaccine is found soon and we can have some type of a normal life again. I am one of the lucky ones, my family lives nearby we can help each other out if we need too. It is so hard to find the small positives in every day, with so much uncertainty in the world. Look after each other and stay safe. We are all in this together. Xx
Pina Colada
WOW now that’s a fragrance that has triggered some memories!! This is a replication of the blended cocktail by the same name and boy does it replicate it well. It smells like you can drink it (though I DONT recommend this) It is a fun fragrance that makes you smile. It has a fresh pineapple scent and also a soft nearly lolly sweetness to the fragrance. This scent works well in all our fragrance range as it is bold enough to stand up to the diffuser blend and also the body wash base. I feel this fragrance would work well in the living area or games room in your home, or maybe on the end of your cocktail bar to say the bar is always open !! It really is a versatile fragrance.
Why is soy wax better?
Soy is better for your health: Soy burns cleaner and produces as much as 90% less soot than other waxes, reducing the amount of indoor air pollution. The emissions from other wax candles can build up on your walls, staining the paint in your home where as soy won’t. It has clean emissions for a healthier safer environment and better for you and your family. Soy is always the better choice.
Wild Frangipani
This is one of 5 different frangipani fragrances that we carry. This one in particular has a mild softness to it that reminds me of summer school holidays. ( before children you know what I mean calm relaxed) It has an unusual soft nearly tropical soap smell. It is unique in its fragrance. It works well with the diffuser base and brings a subtle scent throughout the room. I find that it works well in candles as well and is bold enough to hold its own with the soy wax. I don’t think I would call it a floral fragrance though it does have a slight hint of a perfume. I think it works well in a bathroom, living or sunroom, as it it strong enough to scent throw to hold its own in a high traffic area. Buy local, support small business
It is EXTREMELY important that we all support each other through these very scary and heart breaking times as these bushfires seem like they will never be controlled. I take my hat off to the men and women who have put their lives on hold and fought for ours. We were extremely fortunate when the fires came near us we had the local volunteer firies here in a heartbeat. It was extremely scary and having kids with me and my husband away at the time it was so reassuring to watch my kids work together and watch out for each other. While being responsible enough to remember the plans we had put in place if ever an event like this were to happen. It was a time that changed a lot of things for a lot of people. We were the lucky ones and I will be forever grateful to ALL the volunteers that are always there when they have been called upon. THANKYOU ALL from our family we will be forever in your debt. xx

My Favourite Fragrance
If I had to choose
If I had to choose a fragrance I’m not sure which on I would choose. I love musk as a rule. So Marshmallow would have to be in the top 10 of my favourite scents. It reminds my of my favourite perfume MOR’s Marshmallow. I fell in love with this perfume many years ago when I was given a bottle for my birthday. Then when it ran out I had forgotten its name so for years I looked for it. I finally came across it a few years ago and we were reunited again. I always have a spare bottle hidden away.
I have a marshmallow candle in my bathroom at the moment. It’s nice when ever I go in there. I feel that it is nice in the diffusers but is a soft fragrance gets a little bit lost when mixed with the diffuser base. It is still nice just a little different, not as soft ( for want of a better word). We always have testers available at the markets for you try.
Testing a new soy wax
Trying a new soy wax today, followed the recommended temperatures and found it to be an extremely fast setting wax. Also a lot of waste with this wax as it set quickly causing it to set it the pouring jug. Also found that after the candles had cooled and set that they needed to have a top up pour as they were left with craters in the middle. Very time consuming but still alot of fun. Made some amazing candles and mixed and matched a few of my favourite flavours ( fragrances) to make some fantastic new candles ‘fragrances ‘ which I will be revealing in the near future. Now all I have left to do is burn them to ensure they are ready to be released for you to try.
I think I may need to re evaluate this wax as the time and effort for this one out weighs the positives.
Negative- sets quickly leaving a sunken middle therefor have to top up every candle. Tried heating the containers to the same temprature still the same result. so having to double pour every candle will become time consuming and labor intensive. Finished candles sweat a lot when in the sun or even in temperatures above 25 Degrees C out of direct sunlight. Crystalises around the edges of the container. Some frosting. Has to have exact pouring ratios of wax to fragrance as even a slight variation of .05% leaves the tops of the candles broken and uneven.
Positive- sent throw is amazing even when cold, candle burn time is fantastic. No discolouration on the top of the candle before they have been exposed to the elements. Shelf life is reasonable. But think I may need to find an alternative to this wax.
